changing the facebook status

funny how big of a deal people make out of changing one's relationship status on facebook. It seems to have become like this definitive moment of going public with a relationship for some reason. My facebook status changed this weekend for the first time in, well, all of Meredith's facebook history. Weird. Funny. Not really a big deal (c'mon, it's facebook), but at the same time kind of a huge deal.

Nic expresses it much better than I do:
"Wow!" is about all I can say for the facebook status change. It was really funny when Meredith and myself were talking about where to go with the relationship. The next thought was, "when are we going to change our facebook status? What are people going to think?" And we both began to worry as if people were going to ridicule us for being in a relationship as if it were not okay. Or, it might have been because we were worried about the thousands of questions we would get such as: how did you guys meet? Who is He/She? Are you ready for a relationship? etc etc etc.... I guess we have no reason to question that two perfectly good looking people with 10 fingers, 10 toes, 2 arms, 2 legs, a couple of eyes, and some grey receding hair could somehow meet each other. God can use some pretty crazy methods to bring two people together, considering the multitude of things He did just to shape us into who we are - two people individually seeking Him and looking forward to impacting His kingdom more together than they could as individuals. So, I did change my facebook and already had quite a few ?'s, but I am not ashamed since Miss Meredith May is a blessing from God. I just have to be careful so that I don't disgust people talking about the amazing person she is and all of the joys we shared in our 10-day whirlwind extravaganza. I guess I will wrap this up by simply asking you if you know Meredith, or if you know me, please pray. We desire to keep God the center of this relationship, so pray first that we would earnestly seek Him in everything we do and every choice we make, and also pray for His guidance, timing and patience. 2500 miles is a looooong way.
