friends

friends... who are yours?  you know the ones that get the title of BFF, the ones you really do keep up with even after your lives go in different directions, the ones that you vow to live next door to again one day... true friends.

mine (Deborah and Molly) came to visit last weekend.  we picked right back up where we left off a year and half ago when we got together in birmingham, and before that at molly's wedding, and before that at our college's homecoming, and before that when we cried as we moved out of Malcolm Suite B, the place we called home together for three years.  i love these girls!

Some things I learned from my friends this weekend:
1. take pictures... we have far too few pictures together.
2. don't go shopping with friends... they will tell you to buy everything.  ok, maybe not, but we probably aren't the best influences on each other when it comes to spending money.
3. we are closer than i thought... Molly's picked out a name a daughter if she and Trey have one someday, and this name (first and middle) clearly has roots in both mine and Deborah's middle names!  we are special!
4. plan trips together... don't just talk about them. plan them.  buy the plane tickets.  18 months is way too long to go without hanging out together!
5. enjoy it... with friends this close there's no down time, no awkward silences.  time flies, so savor the moment!  I couldn't believe they were gone so fast!

  1. agreeeeed. i've made a point this past year to stop talking & start doing, when it comes to visiting friends away at school or not in the area... and it's been SO worth it. cherish those memories, and strengthen those tight friendships.... cuz these are the friends you'll know the rest of your life, most likely!

  2. So...this is my first time checking out the mayday blog and I have to say I'm a bit torn. While I agree with everything you said and feel the same about a few of my friends that I need to spend more time with, I must say, I was featured on robshep.com today. I've never been featured on a blog before...and I kinda liked it. Heymayday is definitely falling short on the David scale. Just thought you should know.
