Working with kids, I'm constantly reminded what a crucial role parents play in the shaping of their kids -- their worldview, self-image, perception of others, theology, values, etc. etc. etc. It's funny how it takes some of us growing up to really be thankful for our parents and the way they raised us. It's also come to my attention lately that some definitely didn't have the family life I had growing up, and while no family is perfect by any means, I feel completely blessed!
So, thanks mom and dad! Thanks for believing in me, encouraging me, challenging me to push myself in life, disciplining me, making me practice piano, cooking healthy meals for me and making me eat my green beans (that I now love), and playing outside with me so that I didn't watch too much TV! Thank you for being a great example to me even when you messed up, for teaching me new things, for taking me places, for encouraging me to move away for college, for financially supporting me many times, and most of all for raising me in a home where God was honored and faith was real, and where I was allowed to develop that for myself and make it my own! Thank you!
Oh, and even though you never comment, thanks for reading my blog! If you know how cool my parents are, feel free to comment on their behalf! :)
With a daughter like you, how could they not be cool.
ReplyDeleteI will totally agree with Meredith about Ken and Helen!! I have watched how they guide, protect, nurture and love her. They are awesome folks!!
ReplyDeleteYour parents ARE cool! Your dad was so proud of you he passed on this blog! I am blessed to have him as a BOSS!
ReplyDeleteI agree--your parents are really, really cool! But then I have to think so; I'm Ken's ministry assistant!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, that was a very sweet post! A+++++ for honoring great parents!
