Got my hair cut tonight, for the first time since living in Nashville. Maybe I'm just an awkward person, but many firsts are very awkward. Luckily, I've gotten to experience a lot of those over the past couple of months, and some I've yet to experience (like the dentist)...
First trip to the dentist - awkward. Where do I park? How many papers am I going to have to fill out? Are they going to tell me how bad of a job my previous dentist did on my fillings? What kind of room are they going to put me in? This feels awkward!
First haircut - awkward. Where do I put my purse? Do you take my coat? Where are we going for you to wash my hair? What kind of haircutter lingo are you going to use that I don't know? This feels awkward!
First time visiting a church - awkward. Where do I park? Where do I go in? Will I stick out and look like I'm new? Do I talk to people or let them talk to me? (WEC would be the exception here, of course!) This feels awkward!
First day at work - awkward. Where do I park? How early do I show up? Who else is new? Do I eat in the cafeteria? How do I get to my office without getting lost? What do I do at my next desk/computer all day when I haven't been trained yet? This feels awkward!
Firsts are awkward. Awkward is fun! What awkward firsts have you had?
I feel your pain. I need to go get my hair cut too but it will be awkward so I am putting it off!
ReplyDeleteI get to do the new WEC baby visits now. :) That will be exciting but awkward.
Firsts...Leaving the state you have lived in for the only 25 years of my life... Chasing a girl across the country that I met on the internet... Proposing over a blog, haha J/K... The best first I have ever experienced though is leading someone to a person relationship with Christ! Can't and never will top that one, well maybe if you rock like the 3000 peep conversion, but it still wouldn't be the same.
ReplyDeleteWoah! Sharp intake of breath and heart skipped a beat there while reading Nic's comment!
