Making Memories

We're at the beach for Nic's birthday... as we walked down the beach tonight, I turned to Nic and asked, "Remember that time that we got rained on? We were definitely making memories!" But it got me thinking... what else are we doing to make memories in our first year of marriage?

I'll always remember this day... the weather turned from sunny solace to a making-Meredith-nervous rain while we were rowing around in the gulf, in our two-seater inflatable boat. Nic insisted that it would pass, but we ended up soaked. We were the only crazy people still sitting on the beach when the light rained turned to torrential downpour. I'll always remember that funny day... listening to and following the lead of my adventurous husband, and talking one small step toward overcoming my fear of storms. If nothing else, it's a hilarious memory.

How do we create a lifestyle of making memories, especially once we have kids? We take chances. We play. We build sand castles. We seize every opportunity for adventure. We record our memories, reflect on them, and make them part of our conversations and lifestyle.
