Here's what's been going on in my head and in my life the past week...
*Garth Brooks was awesome! Best. Concert. Ever. (He did a brief tour in Nashville, just 7 shows, and brought Trisha along with him. It was a pretty sweet gig!) We went with some incredible friends from Birmingham.
*We just had the CK2 reunion. Jen documented it quite well! Go read about it.
*Nic and I flew FIRST CLASS to Fresno. It was quite a fiasco! We were supposed to fly coach to LAX, rent a car, and drive 4 hours late in the night to get to Oakhurst. That flight was delayed, they booked us incorrectly to Fresno, so rescheduled us into Burbank. We got to Dallas and waited at the Fresno gate. When the guy working the gate heard our crazy story he worked hard to get us on the flight. Then, we were super stoked to get on, and not complaining that we both had middle seats... and he hooked us up with side-by-side seats in FIRST CLASS! Thank you, Steve from American Airlines at DFW for making our Christmas! :) It was the best 3+ hour flight!
*I learned to knit on Tuesday. I finished a scarf on Friday. I'm trying to decide what to tackle next...
*We went to LA for Christmas, and had fun looking at Nic's grandpa's Model A and his old Mustang! We also got to see where Nic grew up and where his mom grew up, which was fun. Oh, and while we were at the grandparents, we got some sweet genealogy books. I know, we are nerds. We believe his ancestors came west from Dalton, GA, only about 3 hours from where we live now. We wanna go find the Teasley Plantation!
*While in LA, we had fun hanging out with the cousins and watching kids open presents Christmas Eve.
*We stayed at a super nice hotel, and got a DELICIOUS Christmas morning breakfast. Thanks, Nancy, for hooking us up with that gig! :)
*We went to the coast on Christmas day, stopped at grandma's for the pre-party, and then drug everyone there on with us to Santa Barbara for Christmas with Nancy's side of the family. There was a LOT of food...way too much. We played BUNCO and I hit a string of good luck toward the end, which resulted in 3 white elephant gifts... we won some sweet pink skillets but I had to give them away because they won't fit in our suitcase back to Nashville.
*We went back to the same hotel, and got up early Sunday to make the 4-hr drive back home, hopefully in time for church. We didn't make it, but spent the afternoon relaxing.
*We brined our turkey Sunday to cook today. It should be DELICIOUS!
*We spent Sunday evening with Elias and his family! Super fun, and again, more good food.
*I've over-eaten like crazy... haven't we all? I guess that happens when the Christmas meals don't ever end!
Sounds like a great Christmas. Can you post pics of Garth? That'd be most excellent.
